The One With the Deranged Senator

This article just made me sick to my stomach. I'm sure you'll all feel the same way.

  • How can someone be so blind to his own hypocrisy? I'm so glad that Rolling Stone published this. The writer did a great job of using Brownback's own words to nail him to the tree. I loved the reference to the press secretary grimacing when Brownback launched into his cancer story. I'll bet there was more grimacing about the Swedish 'fruits' and those awful Islamists that it is our christian duty to stop (from having OUR oil). I want Lawrence to secede from Kansas. I also loved the writer's line that Brownback's voice "sounds like the voice of someone who has learned how to wait for rain". Isn't that just the sound of most Kansas farmers you've met?

  • The story was very well-written, I thought, with a lot of great gems. Fetal citizens? Freeing fetuses? The first half of the story had me laughing hysterically. I called everyone into my cubicle and we were all reading it and laughing over some of the things Brownback had to say. But the last half really started to scare me. Disregarding the constitution to run the country on the Bible? The religious right has so much power right now that it's scary.

But if Lawrence secedes from Kansas, where will it go? Missouri? No. Nebraska? No better. Iowa? Really, I guess, it'd have to be its own state.
